Therapy to Support Your TMS Treatment
TMS can be one part of a comprehensive approach to smoking cessation. Therapy can help you address the thoughts, behaviors, triggers, and routines that have become connected with smoking.
Together, we can work on:
-
Understanding your smoking patterns and triggers
-
Managing cravings and urges to smoke
-
Identifying situations that make smoking more likely
-
Developing strategies for stress and difficult emotions
-
Changing routines and habits associated with smoking
-
Preparing for challenging situations
-
Building confidence in your ability to remain smoke-free
-
Preventing and responding to slips or relapse
The goal isn't simply to stop smoking for a period of time. It's to develop the skills and strategies that can help you maintain your progress.
Telehealth Therapy & TMS to Stop Smoking
Individual Smoking Cessation Therapy
Individual therapy gives us the opportunity to focus specifically on your relationship with smoking and what you need to successfully quit.
Treatment is personalized to your history, your reasons for smoking, your previous attempts to quit, and the situations that make quitting difficult.
We can work together to understand what's keeping you smoking and develop practical strategies for making lasting changes.
What Therapy Is Like
Smoking cessation therapy is through telehealth. TMS is in-person in Blue Bell, PA.
Therapy is practical and action-oriented.
We'll look at what happens before, during, and after you smoke and identify patterns that may be maintaining your smoking.
You don't have to wait until you feel completely ready or confident to begin making changes. Therapy can help you develop the skills and confidence you need along the way.
Our meetings are through telehealth. The amount of time we meet varies (e.g., 30 minutes to 60 minutes) and how often we meet (e.g., once per week, twice per week) depending where you are in the TMS treatment.
Working Alongside Your TMS Treatment
TMS and therapy serve different roles in your smoking cessation treatment.
Your TMS treatment is provided by your TMS treatment team. My role is to provide psychological treatment and support as you work toward quitting smoking.
We can coordinate the behavioral and psychological aspects of smoking cessation with your overall treatment plan when appropriate.
